All good adventures start with a dream.

The Baumgardner Ranch was purchased by Mark Baumgardner in the early 2000’s. He and his pals spent those first few years building out the east side of the property with the current lodge, shop garage, pull barn, fuel shed, and off-grid power system.

At the time, Mark owned and operated Sun Valley Heli Ski. The intention of this sustainably built lodge was to host multi-day heliski trips and unique summer adventures to those intrigued with the Idaho backcountry.

Mark has since sold Sun Valley Heli Ski but has stayed on as a vault of operational history. In the winter, SML is proud to continue our partnership with SVHS as the only remote fly-in heli ski lodge in the lower 48 states. In the summer, we provide a comfortable place to rest and relax in between your dream adventures.
